Financial Support from the institute

Upfront Provisional Students Aid

 

1) Students whose parents’/Self annual income is less than ₹1 lakh (one lakh) during the previous Financial Year are eligible to get Upfront Provisional Students Aid of Rs.12000/- towards tuition fee at the time of admission, subject to availability of fund.

 

2) In order to confirm the Upfront Provisional Student Aid, the student is compulsorily required to apply for the Student Aid along with the Income Certificate issued by the Competent Authority at the time of application invited for financial support by the Students’ Affairs Office.

 

Those desirous of availing of this facility are required to choose the option for upfront student aid in the TISS Student Management Systems Fee Payment Portal. Upon choosing the option, the reduced fee of Rs. 12000/- will be applicable.

 

Timeline: At the time of payment of fees for securing admission. 

Student Aid

 

The financial aid set aside by the Institute supports students from across campuses and programs. The support ranges between Rs. 12,000/- to Rs. 50,000/- per student for an academic year.

 

  1. Students with an annual family income of Rs. 4.51 lacs and more are not eligible for student aid (SA).
  2. SC/ST students eligible for Post-Matric Scholarships can apply for Student Aid to cover their expenses for Dining Hall and Hostel charges
  3. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester in all courses they register.
  4. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution authorities.

 

Students have to apply with the necessary documents at the time of application called for Student aid by the Students’ Affairs Office. The student aid committee will assess applications, and approve the aid, in the second semester.

 

Timeline: The application process starts in July/August

Through Bridge, -the  student/alumni-led initiative financial support

  1. Independent scholarship in collaboration with Eklavya India Foundation for incoming students (first year) at the School of Social Work, TISS Mumbai. Two scholarships of up to Rs. 75,000/- each (Academic cycle 2023-25) One scholarship will be provided to prospective scholars from Eklavya India Foundation and one scholarship is open to all.

 

  • Course: First-year student pursuing a Master of Social Work degree
  • Income limit: Rs. 8 lacs annual family income (whomever you consider family)

At the time of admission

 

  1. Bridge| Md. Wasim Memorial Scholarship: Scholarship in collaboration with TISS OSA for one Muslim minority student and will offer financial assistance of approx. Rs. 97,000/- for the entire period of study.

 

Year: First and Second-year students are eligible to apply from the School of Social Work and School of Development Studies.

 

Family Income: Rs. 5 lacs annual family income

  1. Bridge| David Bandi Scholarship

The scholarship will be worth Rs. 1,00,000 /- for the academic cycle 2023-25 (Rs 50000 each year) and will be awarded to one Schedule Caste (Dalit) student.

 

Eligibility:

Course: All courses

Income limit: Rs. Four lakhs annual family income

This scholarship will be awarded through the Student aid mechanism.

 

Timeline: Application process starts in July-August

Taksheel Foundation Meritorious scholarship

This is a scholarship available for School of Social Work students and covers the course fees for all four semesters.

 

  1. Total family income of student not to exceed INR 3lakhs per annum (including immediate family members)
  2. Academic performance: Minimum CGPA of 6.0 or 60% and above in UG
  3. Maintain a minimum CGPA score of 6.0 or 60% and above in every preceding semester
  4. Should not have any arrears (failures) in any subject, in any of the semesters
  5. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester in all courses they register.
  6. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution

Application-based Scholarship.

Cognizant Foundation Meritorious fellowship

FOR SECOND YEAR MA IN SOCIAL WORK AND MA IN DEVELOPMENT STUDENTS ONLY

  1. Total family income not to exceed INR 5 lakhs per annum
  2. Academic performance of the candidate in the Undergraduate Education Pre-requisite: Minimum CGPA of 6.0 or 60% and above
  3. Academic performance of the candidate in the first and second semesters of the Postgraduate education(Pre - requisite: minimum CGPA of 6.0 or 60% and above)
  4. Should not have any arrears (failures) in any subject, in any of the previous semesters
  5. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester in all courses they register.
  6. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution authorities.
  7. An amount of Rs. 60000/- per year awarded to the selected students.

 

Application-based Scholarship.

Allana Foundation aid for Muslim Minorities

  1. Annual Family Income from all sources should not be above 6 lacs.
  2. Should not have any arrears (failures) in any subject, in any of the previous semesters
  3. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75%
  4. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution authorities

Application-based Scholarship.

JM Financial Foundation-Scholarships under CSR

  1. Total family income of student not to exceed INR 3 lakhs per annum (including immediate family members)
  2. Desirable Academic performance: Minimum CGPA of 6.0 or 60% and above in UG
  3. Maintain a minimum CGPA score of 6.0 or 60% and above in every preceding semester. Students need to maintain desirable grades in subsequent semesters to qualify for scholarship extension.
  4. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester in all courses they register. Student needs to maintain this in subsequent semesters to qualify for an extension of scholarship.
  5. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution

Tata Trust Scholarship

For the students of the School of Social Work/School of Management and Labour Studies/School of Health Systems Studies:

 

  1. Students with an annual family income of 4.51 lacs and more are not eligible for student aid (SA)
  2. Academic performance: Minimum CGPA of 6.0
  3. Should not have any arrears (failures) in any subject, in any of the semesters
  4. Maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester in all courses they register.
  5. Must not have indulged in any acts of indiscipline resulting in penal action by the Institution.

 

 

Application based scholarship

Help the Blind Foundation

Only for the Visually Impaired students:

 

  1. Graduation marks should be 60% and above
  2. Family income should be less than 3 lakhs

 

Documents required if selected primarily:

  • For New Students Visual Impairment certificate.
  • For New U.G. Students – 10thand 12th mark sheets.
  • For New P.G. Students - Consolidated U.G. mark sheet.
  • A Copy of Aadhaar card (Attestation not required).
  • A Copy of the Bank passbook (the first page which has a name, account no. etc…)
  • Latest Income Certificate (not older than two years).
  • Recommendation letter from Dean, Students' Affairs.

Indiabulls Foundation

Indiabulls Foundation Education Scholarship Program:

 

Eligibility Criteria of Applicants:

 

  1. Less than 25 years of age
  2. Belongs to a family who holds priority Household or Antyoday Anna Yojana ration card
  3. Belongs to a family who consumes less than 200 units of electricity per month.
